Water Fall Project

We are working on another leak in the liner at the top of the waterfall. We will be filling the top bowl with dirt and installing another linen then cementing the wall. The repair will be similar to the construction to a swimming pool. With the holidays so close it will be after the New Year before it’s complete.
I will keep up to date as we move forward with it.

Rain Rain Rain!!!! :( ......Friday morning

Well it's not normal but we can't stop it. We've only got .45 inches since 5:00am this morning so far but its enough to make things gloomy and wet.
Yep! It’s only 11:00 am. We are closed for now but if it does stop raining and the sun come out, it will be cart path only. We hope to get everyone back out on the course tomorrow and there may be frost!

Have a great day and Merry Christmas

Cold and Wet Weather ----The cost of doing Business

We are dealing with cold and wet conditions on the golf course Monday morning. This weekend we had a short frost delay on Sunday but it did not hold up golfers to bad, they were out by 8:00. Saturday it rained all morning and we had a lot of cancellations but it cleared up later.
Hope we can recover with some good weather so you can get all of your golf in for the month.
This morning it’s raining but it did not cause us too much of a problem. The Course will be open and there will not be any restrictions. Looking forward to seeing you on the course this morning.
Thx

Rainy night at the Preserve

Well we are off to a wet start in Dec. Wednesday night was very windy and heavy down pour of rain from time to time thru-out the night. We only received a 1/2 inch of rain but the strong winds produced a lot of horticulture trash and made for a mess of the golf course. The maintenance crew is working diligently picking up branches and blowing debris off of the course this morning. Our bunkers took a pretty good bounding from the rain so some of the sand was washed down to the lower parts of the traps. It will take more time this morning to get them back in playing condition but that’s the nature of the beast when we get rain like this.
There will not be any restrictions on golf play today, we only ask that please be vigilant of wet areas, observe the 90 degree rules and ad-hear to the signs on the golf course,

Thx

First Frost on the Course this year

Well what a surprise, nobody expected the frost to show up this morning. Weather man was indicating that temperatures would be closer to freezing tomorrow. Well we are gearing up how we will address the frost delays. Let’s say that we will make all previsions to get everyone on the course as soon as possible. So please be patient and let the frost dissipate as not to damage any turf. We have a long way to go, so we will see winters frost delay from time to time, so please don’t be too upset with us as we make these calls.
We will see what Saturday morning has in store for us, in regards to freezing temperatures. :}
p.s. I think Ed will be handing out cookies and hot coffee with a smile on these mornings.

Chasing Moles off the Green

This week we are keeping up with the changes of the weather. As luck would have it we overseeded last week. Finished up the last two greens on Saturday evening and it rained all day Sunday and ended up with 1.5 inches if rain. Keeping my fingers crossed but I believe that we are OK. The seed hopefully has been washed into the thatch layer on the green instead of getting washed off. I still have some seed left over so if need be. I'll touch up greens as needed.
On another note we are currently chasing a mole on #4 green. He has caused some damage and we are actively setting traps and putting out bait to eliminate the mole traffic. I'll be keeping you up to date on our progress.

Life on the Greens

The temperatures have been more like the weather we would expect in the summer. We should be in the 50 to 60 degree range for this time of year. However we will still have to make the best out of our situation. While dealing with these conditions we need to get the most out of our seeding investment and manicure the best putting surface possible.
Mother natures has given us some challenges. The day after we completed overseeding we were blessed with 3/4 of rain in 30mins., which washed most of the seed away and now we are dealing with record temperatures in the 80's. So this has caused less than perfect over seeding conditions this year.
Adding more seed will help with conditioning of the putting surface and improve your game. So please bare with us during this process, it will pass quickly. We are applying seed and sand in light dosages so there will be very little impact on your game. We are scheduled to do this on thurs and friday evening Nov. 19th and 20th. Until then or after I'll see you on the course.
Your sup,
auggie
